I recently worked with a customer to complete a Proof of Concept for the vRealize Suite and how it adds value for both traditional Virtual Machines deployments and also kubernetes deployments (including with VMware Tanzu). In the first session, we immediately hit a challenge because the customer had a non-standard Top Level Domain (TLD) and this meant we could not use the VMware vRealize Easy Installer UI to install vRealize Automation or the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager (vRSLCM) user interface to install any of the vRealize Suite.

Introduction In this really short blog post we’re going to be showing the step by step process of upgrading your existing deploy of VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager (vRSLCM) to the latest version (which at the time of writing is v2.1). Why upgrade to vRSLCM 2.1? You can now manage the lifecycle of a VMware Identity Manager provider (i.e. change the vIDM configuration settings!). You can now remove single components/applications from a deployment without having to delete the whole deployment.

#WreckingCrewReunited Today I was lucky enough to be able to present to a capacity crowd at the North East VMUG . There was an #EPIC line up that included the #WreckingCrewReunited Duncan Epping , Frank Denneman and Rawlinson Rivera #NoPressure. Presenting other community sessions along with me were Gareth Edwards (on Terraform) and Jorge del la Cruz (on Monitoring vSphere with opensource tools). We also heard from Kev Johnson around upgrading to vSphere 6.

Introduction I have been working on deploying VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager (vRSLCM) 1.2 for a customer into their environment. One of the customer requirements was to be able to use SSO and RBAC with vRSLCM. The only way to this in vRSLCM is to VMware Identity Manager (VIDM). Whilst this process is semi-automated, it hasn’t been as easy as it should have been. Following on from my initial article ( VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager – The tale of SSO and RBAC ) I came up against another issue that I thought was worth sharing.

Introduction Recently I was asked to deliver a solution for VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager (vRSLCM) 1.2 for a customer to support their requirement for content management between VMware vRealize Automation 7.3.1 environments. The reason we decided to use vRSLCM rather than VMware vRealize CodeStream Management Pack for IT DevOps (AKA Houdini) was we wanted to future proof the solution. If you didn’t know, from VMware vRealize Automation 7.4 onward, the Houdini functionality has been deprecated and is not supported.
