The second-half application for VMware vExpert 2021 close soon 9th July 2021. Now I appreciate that there has been a plethora of posts about the benefits of being a vExpert, so I thought I would share my story too :)
What Is The vExpert Program?
In my opinon, at it’s heart, the VMware vExpert Program is not just about advocacy and envanglism, it’s about community. It brings people together. It encourages those people with diverse backrounds, who live in different countries or continents (that would likely never meet otherwise) to share their own experiences with VMware Technology through the medium of their choice. It encourages people to give back with the hope that someone, somewhere can learn something, fix a problem or just know that they are not alone. Most importantly, you DO NOT have to be an VMware expert to be a VMware vExpert (but it does help!).

TL:DR - Achievements/Goals are like buses it seems
There have been a few Achievements / Goals Unlocked in the last few months. So rather than multiple individual posts I thought I would capture them here:
- Learn more about vRealize Operations Manager.
- Speak at a Tech Conference.
- Obtain vExpert Cloud Management designation.
- Retain vExpert NSX designation.
- Pass the VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC Management 2019 Exam.
- Pass the vRealize Operations 7.5 Specialist exam.
Let us dive a little deeper into each one!

The VMware vExpert Cloud Management 2019 announcement has been released, and I am truly humbled to be recognised for community contributions in the cloud management space.
I can’t wait to see what cool stuff this new sub-designation brings to the #vCommunity!

#vRockstar
For me, this event marks the official #vCommunity start of “VMworld week” in Barcelona. This was my third year at the pre-VMworld party, vRockstar. As usual, the event was oversubscribed and sold out in record time weeks in advance. With another change in location this year, the event was held at the Obama English Pub/Grill ( https://obamabcn.com/ ). The venue was nice albeit a little smaller than the previous venues, the staff were nice and the food was awesome (once it had arrived). There were, however, times it did feel a little claustrophobic (mainly because of the amount of people trying to get to the bar…).

Following the announcement today, I consider myself extremely humbled to be given the community accolade of vExpert for a second year in a row.
I’m in the company of some giants of the industry and some seriously #awesome guys and gals.
Congratulations to everyone that made the cut, both new and continuing vExperts, the community wouldn’t be the same without you all.

After the first day of full conferencing, it was time to head out to the vExpert party which was held at L’Eggs ( http://www.leggs.es/en) .
Unfortunately, I arrived fashionably late as I had to go back to my hotel to drop off my bags, and then get across town, which meant I missed the brief appearance of Pat Gelsinger.
The evening was enjoyable enough, the food (scrambled eggs, risotto and creme cataluna) and drinks kept flowing. I spent a lot of time getting to talk to all those vExperts that I communicate with via different social media platforms all the time but have never met in real life (which is a sign of the world we live in).

Just got confirmation that I’ve been selected to be included in the vExpert Class of 2016.
I am truly humbled that my contribution to the wider VMware community has been recognised by my peers. I have only had the opportunity to share my thoughts, tips, tricks and experiences for the last 9 months but look forward to maintaining this for many years to come.
In becoming recognised as a vExpert, I will be listed amongst some giants of the industry and community!
